[autotag]Kyle Larson[/autotag] is one of the best race car drivers in the world, and it was on full display during the 2021 NASCAR season. In Larson’s first year with Hendrick Motorsports, he won 10 races and the Cup Series championship. Over the next two years, the driver of the No. 5 car won a combined seven races and almost ended up being the 2023 Cup Series champion.
With a new journey in NASCAR at Hendrick Motorsports, some have speculated that Larson could stick around for a long time. However, this might not be the case. In an interview with Kenny Wallace, Larson talked about the retirement age in NASCAR and revealed he could step away sooner than expected.
“It’s hard to say when you are in it,” Larson said. “Sitting here right now, I don’t see myself going to (40 years old). But that’s not me retiring from racing. I think I’m different than others.”

“For me, there’s a lot of stuff that I want to accomplish while I’m still in my prime. I’m (31 years old) right now. I’m going into my 11th season in the Cup Series, so I’ve already been in it for a while. In my eyes, if I can race another seven or eight years, I can earn a lot of money, I can set myself up really well, and I can go still be in my prime, hopefully, and go compete for premier dirt series championships.”
This wouldn’t be shocking, as Larson has previously teased this possibility. The 2021 Cup Series champion is set to compete in the 2024 Indianapolis 500 as his versatility continues to be on full display. In 10 years, that versatility could be further established as Larson ponders the idea of pushing for dirt racing championships in his prime.
