Kyle Larson talks about wreck with Daniel Suarez at Iowa in 2024

Kyle Larson talks about his wreck with Daniel Suarez at Iowa Speedway in 2024. Find out what Larson said about the accident with Suarez!

[autotag]Kyle Larson[/autotag] had the car to beat at Iowa Speedway, and after winning Stage 2, it seemed like no one would beat him. Unfortunately for Larson, his day went up in smoke after an accident with Daniel Suarez on a restart in the Final Stage. The No. 5 car was heavily damaged and traveled to the garage to fix the damage. Larson came back out on the race track and finished in 34th place.

Following the event, Larson spoke about his accident with Suarez and expressed regrets over the restart to RACER.com. The Hendrick Motorsports driver knew he had the best car and let it slip away.

“I wish I could have that restart back, Larson said. “I haven’t seen a replay yet, but I guess I could have just not gone to the middle and been more patient with how fast my car was and knowing who I was around. I wanted to get as many cars as I could in the beginning of that little run, and it probably ended up biting me.”

“We made it until, I don’t know, the exit of the corner, and then I’m not sure if [Daniel Suarez] got loose underneath me or what happened. He got into my left rear and got me out of control.”

Larson leaves Iowa without a victory and the lead in the point standings. Two things that Larson expected after his success in the first two stages of the NASCAR Cup Series event. Now, the 2021 Cup Series champion must put his disappointing night behind him. The USA TODAY 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway is coming, and Larson hopes to right the ship.
