[autotag]Kyle Larson[/autotag] had an up-and-down day at the Daytona 500, but it ended with a decent finish. Larson would have won Stage 1 without Ross Chastain sticking with Chase Elliott. Later in the race, the driver of the No. 5 car was involved in the “Big One” but stuck around after coming down pit road. Following all the mayhem on the final green-flag run, Larson finished in 11th place.
After the event, Larson saw Hendrick Motorsports finish 1-2, with William Byron winning the race. Hendrick Motorsports released an article with quotes from its drivers, including Larson. The driver of the No. 5 car talked about his day at the 2024 Daytona 500.

“The first stage went well, and then the next two stages just got caught in the wrong lanes at pivotal points and lost track position,” Larson said. “I was able to miss that big wreck mostly. Got a left, front flat from sliding them and had to pit. Awesome to have a [Hendrick Motorsports] Chevrolet win that race and cool to see [William Byron] win.”
It was a solid day for Larson, who leaves Daytona sitting seventh in the point standings. When it comes to superspeedway racing, surviving and earning points is the route if you don’t win the race. For Larson, it is a good start to the 2024 NASCAR season as he looks to bounce back after losing the championship at Phoenix Raceway last year.
