Kyle Larson takes bold stance on the NASCAR Cup Series racing on dirt tracks

Kyle Larson takes a bold stance about the NASCAR Cup Series racing on dirt tracks beyond the 2023 season.

Bristol Motor Speedway announced last week that both NASCAR weekends held at the venue will take place on the concrete track. This is a significant change as the first Bristol date had been the dirt track since the 2021 NASCAR season. Now, Bristol Dirt is gone and will not return for the 2024 season despite some drivers enjoying the idea.

However, not every driver believes the Cup Series should be racing on dirt. [autotag]Kyle Larson[/autotag], one of the best dirt track drivers in the country, was asked which other dirt tracks NASCAR should try out now that Bristol Dirt is not coming back. Larson’s answer was, “None,” which is very notable for someone who is incredibly talented in that style of racing.

A majority of the Cup Series drivers believe the NextGen car does not belong on a dirt track but will NASCAR agree with that sentiment? There are several venues, such as Eldora Speedway, that make sense for NASCAR but it remains to be seen if anything happens. Bristol Dirt had its ups and downs but Larson believes that should be the end of dirt racing in the Cup Series.
