Kyle Larson made Hendrick Motorsports history on Saturday night at Bristol as he crushed the field in one of the most dominant performances we’ve seen at the iconic night race.
Larson started in second place, and after gaining control of the race over pole-sitter Alex Bowman, no one appeared capable of posing a challenge to the No. 5 car.
Larson went on to lead 462 of the 500 total laps, setting a new Hendrick Motorsports record for most laps led in a race.
Larson is also the first driver to lead 400 or more laps at Bristol in the last 16 years, since Kyle Busch led 415 laps in the 2008 Sharpie 500 — though Busch lost that race to Carl Edwards.
With two stage wins adding extra playoff points to his total, Larson will have a 15-point edge over Christopher Bell as the round of 12 begins next weekend in Kansas.
