[autotag]Kyle Larson[/autotag] was riding high after winning at Sonoma Raceway and looked to have the race-winning car at Iowa Speedway before a wreck. Now, Larson sits eight points behind teammate Chase Elliott in the point standings heading into the USA TODAY 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. However, does the past support a weekend where Larson can have more success in Loudon?
In 2023, Larson ran well and finished in third place behind Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano. In Stage 2, the driver of the No. 5 car finished in second place. Meanwhile, the 2022 event went well through two stages before a 14th-place finish. Finally, Larson’s first race at New Hampshire with Hendrick Motorsports resulted in a seventh-place finish.
The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion doesn’t have as much speed at New Hampshire as other tracks, but the potential is present. Larson has displayed more speed than Elliott in Loudon, which could be beneficial in his push for the points lead. Larson may not be the favorite to win, but the No. 5 team can never be counted out.
