Kyle Larson clarifies his comments about the NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Find out what Larson had to say!

Following the NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, [autotag]Kyle Larson[/autotag] didn’t seem to enjoy the racing as tire wear was extreme. Larson finished in fifth place but said he hopes to “never” run a race like that again and expressed how it wasn’t fun to ride around not knowing how to manage the car. On Tuesday, the 2021 Cup Series champion clarified his comments.

During a media tour at Hendrick Motorsports, RACER’s Kelly Crandall received a comment from Larson addressing his thoughts after the race at Bristol. The driver of the No. 5 car had a different tone with the event a few days behind him.

“Maybe I didn’t do a good job of explaining myself (after the race) because I did have a blast,” Larson said. “It was a lot of fun. I think it was just a little too extreme in tire wear. I think we all want that tire wear, but I would have loved to see the rubber get laid into the surface as well so we could move around a little bit more. Get up the racetrack a little bit more. But overall, you can’t deny that it was a fantastic race.”

Larson appears to have the same mindset as many others across NASCAR right now. The tire wear was too extreme and entertaining to watch, but there needs to be a balance. If Goodyear can find a way to have the tires lay down rubber and wear, Larson and many other drivers would be extremely excited about the status of short tracks in the Cup Series.
