Kyle Busch sits 104 points below the playoff cut-line with seven races remaining in the 2024 NASCAR regular season, and the pressure couldn’t be higher. Busch may not be in a true must-win situation yet; however, the No. 8 team has shown no signs that it can make it on points. In fact, this alarming statistic from Busch and Austin Dillon proves that point.
Over the last seven races, Busch and Dillon have earned the second and third-fewest points of any full-time driver in the NASCAR Cup Series at 81 and 80 points, respectively. The lowest driver is John Hunter Nemechek, who sits at 77 points. It has been a downright horrible stretch for Richard Childress Racing, who is arguably NASCAR’s worst team from a points perspective right now.
Busch would need to outgain another driver by 104 points to make the playoffs without a win, while the No. 8 team has 81 total points in the last seven races. This is a very alarming situation for Richard Childress Racing, as these struggles have been beyond disappointing. Busch must hope for a major improvement soon, or he won’t take part in the 2024 NASCAR playoffs.
