Kyle Busch talks about shocking DNF at Iowa with 2024 playoffs looming

Kyle Busch talks about his shocking DNF at Iowa Speedway with the playoffs looming. Find out what Busch said about the No. 8 car’s issues!

[autotag]Kyle Busch[/autotag] had a pretty fast car at Iowa Speedway; however, it quickly went south. Busch was running in the top 10 spots in the Final Stage, but after a restart, the No. 8 car was dropping like a rock. Then, Busch came to the pit road and said, “Something broke” on the car. The No. 8 team tried to fix it but Busch couldn’t complete the race for a 35th-place finish.

Following his issues at Iowa, Busch spoke to NBC Sports about mechanical woes on the No. 8 car. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion was frustrated as another good run went downhill despite having a good car.

“Yeah, I don’t know what happened, but NextGen parts and pieces broke,” Busch explained. “Something in the left rear suspension, I don’t know if it was a toe link or what it was, but it changed the skew of the back of the car and just undriveable doing that. Came in and fixed it, rolling back out blew the power steering line off or the belt, just broke the belt. So I have no idea.”

“Frustrating for sure, not what we wanted for all of our Zone guys, everybody from QuikTrip. Having a pretty decent day, I mean, I thought we had a top-10 run going, and we had an opportunity there to score some points, but not to be.”

With nine races left in the NASCAR regular season, there is concern surrounding Busch’s status for the playoffs. Busch sits 31 points behind the playoff cut-line after leaving several points on the table over the last three races. The No. 8 team needs to right the ship, or Busch and company will miss out on the 2024 NASCAR playoffs.
