Kurt Warner gives John Wolford his full endorsement for wearing No. 13

John Wolford switches to jersey number 13, Kurt Warner gives his full endorsement.

Kurt Warner is well-known for his tenure with the Rams, sporting the No. 13 jersey as he led the franchise to a Super Bowl win in 1999. However, with Matthew Stafford joining the Los Angeles Rams via trade and Cam Akers switching to No. 3, Wolford is going to be next in line to wear the No. 13 jersey in the royal blue and sol uniforms.

Wolford wore No. 9 with the Rams a season ago as the immediate backup to Jared Goff, but he changed to No. 3 when Stafford arrived. The Wake forest product would become a fan favorite immediately when he was forced to step in for Goff late in the season due to a thumb ailment that the former first overall selection suffered in Week 16 against the Seattle Seahawks.

In relief of Goff, Wolford brought a dynamic to the offense that Goff was incapable of doing, which included extending plays with his legs. Warner, who has experience with having to replace the starter, is now advocating for Wolford wearing his old jersey number.

Los Angeles would prefer to not have Wolford see the field in 2021 as Stafford is expected to have a productive year under Sean McVay. But if Wolford is called into action, he’ll be wearing a familiar jersey number for Rams fans.
