Kristian Fulton’s former CB coach calls Titans ‘perfect landing spot for him’

Kristian Fulton’s former CB coach believes he and the Titans are a perfect match.

If you ask Kristian Fulton’s former cornerbacks coach and Recruiting Coordinator from LSU, Corey Raymond, he’ll tell you that Fulton and the Tennessee Titans are a perfect match.

Justin Melo of Music City Miracles spoke to Fulton’s former coach earlier this month and he explained exactly why that is.

“I thought that was a good place for him. I’m well educated on how they like to play and the different combinations of coverages within their defense. I’m very familiar with what they do on defense and I think it fits who he is as a cornerback. We watch a lot of NFL tape. I’ve seen what the Titans do within their scheme and I think it fits him incredibly well. The Titans were the perfect landing spot for him.”

Raymond also explained that Fulton, who the Titans are slated to have play in the slot during his rookie season, can play both inside and out, and that before his suspension in 2017, LSU planned to play him in the slot.

“Absolutely. He can do both. Trust me on this one. By the time he’s finished, he’s going to be great at playing both inside and outside. He’s going to do very well in that spot for the Titans. I liked his ability to play both outside and inside.”

Other interesting tidbits from Raymond included confirming that Fulton played man coverage in college 90 percent of the time, and that he would usually be matched up with faster receivers.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Fulton beyond 2020, but one would assume the ideal scenario would be the Titans moving the rookie to the outside at some point, and hopefully as early as next season.

This would enable Tennessee to part ways with Malcolm Butler after this 2020 and save the team $10 million of his $14.2 million salary in 2021.

For now, Fulton appears set to man the slot for the Titans in his rookie season and he’s the perfect injection of speed and coverage the team’s secondary needs.
