In a recent appearance on ex-NBAer JJ Redick’s “Old Man and the 3” podcast, star Latvian big man Kristaps Porzingis shared why he decided to join the Boston Celtics. Despite having been dealt from the Dallas Mavericks to the Washington Wizards in his last stop, Porzingis saw his move to Boston as a form of free agency, choosing the Celtics over other teams.
He cited the compatibility of his playing style with stars like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as a key factor. Porzingis also acknowledged the allure of being in a city like Boston, emphasizing winning took precedence over market size. The 7-foot center showed a hunger for the challenge of proving himself on a championship-caliber team, particularly after a lackluster playoff run with Dallas in previous seasons.
