Rookie cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry left the New Orleans Saints’ preseason matchup with the San Francisco 49ers after suffering a right leg injury. McKinstry got tangled up with a San Francisco wide receiver at the end of the first possession and was seen walking off awkwardly after the play.
It’s unclear what exactly happened, because the broadcast didn’t show that angle on the replay. The FOX Sports broadcast did, however, give an update on the rookie and specified his injury was to the right leg.
FOX sideline reporter Kristina Pink said that “Rookie cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry was in and out of the medical tent, seemed to be favoring his right leg. Lot of conversations with the medical staff. Going to the locker room for more attention.”
McKinstry attempted to stay in the game. He was seen backpedaling on the sidelines and stretching out on an exercise bike before heading back to the locker room. After conversations with the medical team and testing out his leg, McKinstry was sent to the locker room.
Hopefully, the injury is minor. Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo were both already out with injuries and losing McKinstry would thin out the cornerbacks room even further.
