Kobe Bryant was remembered at the first round of the Genesis Invitational on Thursday.
PGA Tour stars have been finding different ways to honor the Lakers great at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles.
Brooks Koepka wore purple-and-gold Nike golf shoes. Justin Thomas sported some custom shoes by Nomad Customs.
The flag on the eighth hole had Kobe’s No. 8 jersey number. The eighth hole was also renamed “Mamba” for the week.
And in a most interesting twist, Tiger Woods’ eagle putt on the first hole was drained from 24 feet, 8 inches away. The 24 and 8 represent both of the retired jersey numbers Bryant wore for the Lakers.
As soon as I knew I was going to play in The Genesis Invitational back in the fall I started working with @nike to showcase my love for Kobe. After his passing it felt even more surreal to pay homage and channel the ultimate #MambaMentality this week. pic.twitter.com/MohtPOBh4y
