New York Knicks first-round pick R.J. Barrett will be listed as probable to play Saturday night against the Charlotte Hornets due to a contused right quadricep, the team announced.
Barrett did not practice on Friday as a result of the injury.
The Knicks likely opted to hold Barrett out as a precautionary reason as it does not appear to be a serious injury. Based on his injury status, Barrett will likely play against the Hornets.
The third overall pick recorded eight points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal on Thursday night in a 106-103 win over Kristaps Porzingis and the Dallas Mavericks.
Medical Update: RJ Barrett (contused right quadricep), Taj Gibson (sore left plantar fascia) and Frank Ntilikina (sore left abdomen and groin) did not practice today and are all listed as probable for tomorrow’s home game against Charlotte.

Barrett’s performance on Thursday continued a string of inconsistent play.
He recorded at least 15 points in seven of his first eight games but has since failed to score in double figures in three of his last four games. Given his astronomical workload, and role as a primary option on offense, his inconsistencies could continue until he can break out of his recent slump.
