Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray is a Pro Bowl alternate but very well could end up in the game. With Drew Brees, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers as the three quarterbacks on the NFC roster, it is quite possible that one of them will be in the Super Bowl and therefore wouldn’t play.
It is something head coach Kliff Kingsbury thinks Murray would really benefit from.
“It’d be incredible,” he told reporters Wednesday. “If he could be around one of those veteran quarterbacks and see their approach to the game and how they interact with teammates and carry themselves, that’s something you can’t put a price on. Just him stepping into that arena and dealing with a bunch of other All-Pro-type players and how he handles them, it’d be fantastic.”
He thinks Murray would show off a bit, too.
“I think he’d love to go out there and run around,” he said. “Those guys are all kind of going half-assed out there anyway, so I think he could really show out. He would try to put on a show, that’s for sure.”
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was a Pro Bowl alternate his rookie season in 2012 and ended up playing. He threw three touchdown passes in the game.
He is still just an alternate so it isn’t a sure thing that he will end up on the squad. But even for those fans who don’t like the Pro Bowl, it might be worth tuning in to watch Murray put on a show.
