If there is any indication of what is believed the Arizona Cardinals can achieve in the 2020 season, we can look no further than the betting odds for next season’s Coach of the Year award. According to odds for the award by BetMGM, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is among the favorites.
Kingsbury is given +1600 odds, or 16/1, to win it. He has the same odds as San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich.
Only three coaches have shorter odds.
The three favorites are New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick at +1000 and both Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel and Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy at +1400.
Kingsbury, in his first year as head coach in 2019 with the Cardinals, led the team to a 5-10-1 record but had a rookie quarterback and one of the league’s worst defenses. The defense gave away leads late in the fourth quarter or overtime in three games.
The Cardinals added several defensive starters in free agency and had what many consider to be a great draft. They also acquired All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins and re-signed running back Kenyan Drake and left tackle D.J. Humphries.
With expected growth from Murray, the belief is the Cardinals could viably become a very competitive team in the NFC. If that were to happen, Kingsbury would be a logical choice to win the award for top coach.
His odds represent potential and plausibility.
