Colorado point guards Jaylyn Sherrod and KJ Simpson enjoyed quite the weekend.
About 24 hours after Sherrod scored a career-high 34 for the women, Simpson dropped that same total, also a career-best, in the men’s win over Washington State on Sunday.
Simpson, who was 10-of-18 from the field and 13-of-14 from the free-throw line, was Colorado’s primary offensive weapon again on Sunday with Cody Williams and Tristan da Silva still sidelined. Led by Simpson’s motor and a late 3-pointer from J’Vonne Hadley, the shorthanded Buffs capped off the 74-67 win on a 12-3 scoring run.
On the heels of beating Washington on Friday, Colorado is now 2-0 in Pac-12 play.
It’s still early, but Simpson is beginning to generate some All-American buzz.
KJ Simpson just willed Colorado to another Pac-12 win without both Tristan da Silva and Cody Williams.
A career-high 34 for the All-American candidate.
Buffs — who look like the second-best team in the Pac-12 — will be in Tucson on Thursday to face Arizona.

Colorado could be ranked, too, ahead of Thursday’s matchup at No. 4 Arizona.
