The Big Ten Media Days are ongoing, and the Iowa Hawkeyes are getting their chance to share thoughts with the media, answer questions, and give insight into the 2024 college football season.
One of the key talking points of the Big Ten Media Days is the arrival of four new schools to take the conference to 18 total teams. The additions of USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon are becoming a reality with their presence in Indianapolis.
Their arrival to the Big Ten also eliminated the existence of divisions within the conference. To some, that is a welcome change after facing the powerhouses each year.
To others, possibly Iowa, they may wish divisions stuck around a bit as the Big Ten West was often the butt of jokes for its lack of success and often crowded standings of teams battling to come out on top.
Despite the elimination of the Big Ten West, Kirk Ferentz still thinks one common thought will reign supreme among teams.

“I’ve been in this league 35 years and everyone thinks they’re getting screwed on their schedule. That’s a commonality,” Ferentz said about the schedule changes.
This could be lip service from the Iowa head coach. The Hawkeyes have drawn a pleasant surprise in their schedule this season. They do travel to Ohio State, but in other Big Ten play, the remaining eight teams were ranked lower than them in the Big Ten preseason media poll.
