Kinzie Hansen continues hot start to the season in win over Kentucky

After making her debut last weekend in the Mary Nutter Classic, Kinzie Hansen kept the good times rolling in the Sooners’ 18-0 win over Kentucky.

Last weekend, in the Mary Nutter Classic, [autotag]Kinzie Hansen[/autotag] had an RBI in every game. In the finale, she had two home runs and five RBIs. Somehow, Hansen had an even better performance against Kentucky.

In the Sooners’ 18-0 win over the No. 17 Wildcats, Hansen went 3 for 4 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Against UCLA and Kentucky, she’s gone 5 for 8 with four home runs and 12 RBIs.

Hansen’s four home runs is just one behind true freshman Jocelyn Erickson and tied with Jayda Coleman for second on the team. Despite playing in just seven of Oklahoma’s 16 games this season, Hansen is already up to second on the team in RBIs.

Five of her seven hits have gone for extra bases, which is fourth on the team in extra-base hits.

Getting Hansen back in the lineup and behind the plate has provided a huge boost to the Oklahoma Sooners. Though it’s early in the season, Hansen is making a strong case for national player of the year.
