Kings interested in a former member of ‘The Process’ for open GM job

A former member of “The Process” is being considered for the Sacramento Kings open GM job.

“The Process” can sometimes be considered as a four-letter word in Philadelphia, but there is no doubt that it had some success as it netted the 76ers some legitimate stars that have turned the fortunes of the franchise around.

So, other teams may look at that and try to emulate what the former general manager Sam Hinkie performed and how he turned the Sixers around a bit.

The Sacramento Kings are currently looking for a new general manager after Vlade Divac stepped down and there are a few candidates for the position, according to Sam Amick and Shams Charania of The Athletic. One of them is Hinkie’s number 2 while with the Sixers, Sachin Gupta who is currently with the Minnesota Timberwolves as their executive vice president of basketball.

Amick:

The list of possibilities goes on from there: The Pelicans’ Trajan Langdon (GM under Dave Griffin, who is executive vice president of basketball operations), the Timberwolves’ Sachin Gupta (executive vice president of basketball operations), the Spurs’ Brent Barry (vice president of basketball operations), the Rockets‘ Eli Witus (assistant GM under Daryl Morey).

At the moment, the Kings have former NBA champion Joe Dumars running the show, but Gupta will have his shot along with a slew of candidates. [lawrence-related id=36961,36957,36954]
