One of the biggest revelations for the Washington Huskies in their first season under coach Jedd Fisch has been the emergence of freshman linebacker Khmori House. The former three-star recruit from St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California, impressed linebackers coach Robert Bala and Washington’s entire defensive staff throughout spring and fall camp and has continued to shine in Washington’s first seven games.
He was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week following his breakout showing against Northwestern, where he recorded 3 tackles and an interception. During Washington’s bye week, the honors continued to roll in when 247Sports named him to their Midseason True Freshman All-America team.
“House ranks sixth on the Huskies with 20 tackles to go along with an interception and a pass defended,” 247Sports’ Chris Hummer wrote. “His [Pro Football Focus] grade of 63.8 ranks the highest among true freshman linebackers who have taken at least 110 snaps. House has already earned three starts this season.”
The freshman has seen his snaps increase every week, and Fisch has called him one of the future faces of the program and has had high praise for House all season long.
“He’s super athletic, super fast, he’s going to be a great player for us,” he said after House’s first career start against Washington State. “He’s a relentless competitor, he’s tough, he loves practice, he loves to work hard on the practice field and in the weight room. I think the more Khmori we play, the better Khmori’s going to get.”
