In a very talented true freshman class around the Big Ten, Washington Huskies linebacker Khmori House stood out. The former three-star recruit from St. John Bosco in Southern California played his way into Washington’s rotation at the position, eventually earning a starting role alongside seniors Carson Bruener and Alphonzo Tuputala.
College Football Network took notice of his season, where he compiled 35 tackles, 1 for loss, a forced fumble, an interception, and 4 pass breakups, naming him to their Freshman All-America honorable mention list.
House saw action in all 12 games this season for the Huskies and earned Washington’s Most Outstanding Freshman and Big Hit awards at the team’s end-of-season banquet. Several Huskies have also applauded his leadership skills, praising his “big voice” at the end of the season.
“That’s the best thing about him, man,” Tuputala said in November. “Being older guys, it’s kinda my first time taking someone under my wing, same thing with Carson. But Khmori, along with all the other young guys, Deven Bryant, and a whole bunch of other names in there, just bring an energy to the room. Being able to show them the ropes, show them how to do things, but also, I’ve taken a few things from Khmori and Deven Bryant. Khmori is a great teammate, man.”
House’s game-saving tackle of USC running back Woody Marks on fourth and goal on the one-yard line to force a turnover on downs is just one example of how the true freshman came to earn his spot behind Bruener and Tuputala.
In a time of uncertainly, with eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Belichick taking the head coaching job at North Carolina, where it’s anticipated that his son, Washington’s defensive coordinator Steve Belichick, will follow his father to Chapel Hill, and both Bruener and Tuputala entering the NFL draft, Jedd Fisch can rest easy knowing that House will be the anchor of the linebacker corps on Montlake in 2025.
