Key Patriots starters not present at Thursday’s practice

Several key Patriots players were not at practice on Thursday.

The New England Patriots may be banged up for their matchup with the Arizona Cardinals on Monday considering four offensive players were sidelined for Thursday’s practice, per NESN’s Zack Cox.

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, running back Damien Harris and offensive tackles Trent Brown and Isaiah Wynn all missed practice. The injury to Meyers occurred in last Thursday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, when he took an illegal hit to the head late in the game and did not return.

It’s been a difficult season for Harris and Wynn on the injury front. Harris is out with a thigh injury, and Wynn is out with a foot injury. They did not play in last Thursday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Brown was sick last week and was not feeling well following the game.

The depth on the offensive line may be tested with the injuries. Yodny Cajuste and Connor McDermott are the only other offensive tackles on the roster. There may be hope on the horizon as Marcus Cannon can return from injured reserve this week.

These injuries would just add to what has been a struggle for the Patriots offensively. They rank in the middle half of the league with the team averaging 214 passing yards per game this season.

Losing four key pieces of the offense would be a recipe for trouble, as Patriots try to get back in the playoff hunt with a win over the Cardinals.
