With recent transfer portal news swirling nationwide, Iowa football received news Tuesday that starting center Logan Jones will be returning to the Hawkeyes for a sixth season.
Jones could have declared for the 2025 NFL draft but stated in his announcement on social media that he is not finished living his dream of being a Hawkeye.
“My time at the University of Iowa is something I will cherish forever. Representing the state of Iowa on Saturdays in the fall has created memories that will last a lifetime. To be able to wear the Black and Gold and swarm out with my teammates to the best fans in the country is truly special.
“To have the chance to be able to play in the NFL is something I have dreamed of since I was a kid, but I’m not done being a Hawkeye yet.
“Being a hawk has been a dream come true and I am excited for one last season with my brothers! Go Hawks!” Jones wrote in his social media announcement.

After transitioning from the defensive side of the ball following the 2021 season, Jones has been a key component of the offensive line’s meteoric rise under position coach George Barnett by starting 38 games over the past three seasons.
With the offensive line expected to go through a significant overhaul entering the 2025 season, the return of Jones will provide a form of stability as the program transitions into next fall.
Multi-year starters in left tackle Mason Richman and right guard Connor Colby have exhausted their collegiate eligibility. Offensive linemen Nick DeJong and Tyler Elsbury are out of eligibility as well.
Alongside Jones, the Hawkeyes will return left guard Beau Stephens and right tackle Gennings Dunker. Redshirt freshman Kade Pieper also played in nine games along the offensive line for the Hawkeyes this season.
