Nick Chubb has already been designated for return from injured reserve, but that doesn’t yet guarantee that the Browns top running back will be available for Sunday’s matchup with the Houston Texans. Coach Kevin Stefanski splashed some cold water on the possibility in his press conference on Thursday.
Stefanski was asked if Chubb will make his return to the lineup when the Browns host the Texans in FirstEnergy Stadium in Week 10. The head coach deferred on saying anything definitive. Instead, he offered a cautious endorsement.
“We’ll see,” Stefanski said. “We’ll get to Friday and make a determination if he’s ready to go.”
Chubb has been practicing in a brace. Stefanski is unsure if that will carry over to games.
“And if he is ready to go it’s up to his comfort level and the doctor and trainer’s comfort level with the brace.”
Overall, Stefanski used the term “hopeful” on Chubb’s activation for Sunday but won’t commit until after Friday’s practice session.
