Things are going as planned for the Washington Redskins.
Well, at least when it comes to Dwayne Haskins. The season has fallen off the rails but the chance to develop Haskins for the long-term outlook continues to unfold at a solid pace, last week culminating in a win.
Just ask offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell. Speaking with the media late this week, O’Connell said the offense has progressed in meaningful ways largely because his staff has done a good job of figuring out what works best for Haskins.
It sure doesn’t hurt that Haskins continues to develop at a good clip:
Kevin O’Connell says his play calling has really evolved as Dwayne Haskins has progressed – the team works hard to figure out the best plays that still allow the QB to play fast

While Haskins has been far from perfect, it was always going to take time for a staff that lost its head coach and priority on veteran players at quarterback to switch over to the skill set of the rookie.
Now that it has — paired with Haskins merely getting more comfortable as he goes — O’Connell and Co. are starting to see the quick-fly changes pay off on the field.
