Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love has often commended rookie Evan Mobley when given the opportunity, and the 14-year veteran once again offered more praise for him on Saturday.
Mobley, through his first three games, has dazzled on both ends of the court and has looked to be perhaps the top rookie. On Saturday, Mobley registered his first career double-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks in a win over the Atlanta Hawks.
He has helped anchor the Cavaliers on the defensive side of the ball with his versatility and size down low. He has controlled the paint and has proven to be tough to score on given his ability to block shots and alter them with his 7-foot frame.

The start by Mobley this season is not at all surprising to Love.
He has a huge future in front of him. It doesn’t surprise me that he is able to do that. He is going to make a number of All-Defensive teams in his career. He is just getting starting. Once he really goes through the league a couple of times, like any rookie, once he figures it out and realizes how good he is, you’re going to see him make those teams. Blocking shots, getting steals and rebounding … He is going to be a guy who is going to get a double-double every night.
Mobley has the potential to become a star in the NBA, largely due to his ability on both ends of the floor. His blend of size and athleticism, along with his instincts and switchability, make him capable of doing quite a few things on the court.
The first week of the season has given Cavaliers fans a glimpse of what Mobley can bring on a nightly basis and it has offered plenty of hope in The Land. He could be in store for a strong rookie campaign, as a result.
