[autotag]Kevin Lee[/autotag] can’t seem to catch a break.
Lee (18-6 MMA, 11-6 UFC), who underwent surgery for a torn left ACL three months ago, has gone under the knife again, but this time for his right knee.
Lee damaged his right knee while recovering from his left one, which has resulted in two torn ACLs, extending his time on the shelf considerably.
Lee set a six-month recovery timeline for himself after undergoing surgery in May. But now that he’s injured his other knee, “The Motown Phenom’s” comeback will have to wait.
He took to Instagram to address the unfortunate situation while trying to keep a positive attitude in the process.
“I hurt it while trying to recover from this one,” Lee said. “But honestly, I’m not that discouraged about it. I feel like I’ve been on this path for a long-ass time, like last 10 years, and I’ve seen all of this (expletive) happening. I didn’t know I was going to have it, but I knew for sure it was going to happen. I guess God wants me to have two strong knees. So when I come back, I’m going to (expletive) somebody up. I feel like I’m on the right path.”
After scoring a highlight-reel knockout over Gregor Gillespie this past November at UFC 244, Lee suffered a third-round submission loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC on ESPN+ 28 in March. It’s been a rough year for Lee, but the 27-year-old vows to come back stronger.
