Kevin Durant weighs in on recent development in Bulls’ front office search

While reshaping their front office in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chicago Bulls did something Kevin Durant can get behind.

Before the Chicago Bulls decided to name former Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas the franchise’s executive vice president of basketball operations, Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie explained how he would reshape the franchise if he were given the chance to become the first ever player/GM.

The idea of a player/GM might be a bit aggressive, but having an ex-player take on the role of general manager isn’t at all. And the Bulls’ work hasn’t ended with the hiring of Karnisovas.

Chicago’s new executive vice president of basketball operations still has some work ahead of him. Karnisovas is expected to hire a new general manager and additional basketball operations and scouting positions, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

And an ex-Bulls player may be in line for one of the positions Karnisovas is set to fill — a possibility Kevin Durant is a fan of.

When the Nets forward saw K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago report Bulls president Michael Reinsdorf held an “informal interview” with Nazr Mohammed for an “undetermined front office role,” Durant let Chicago know he likes the idea.

Suffice it to say Durant will have quite a few ex-players in his front office if he ever gets to own a team someday — which he has expressed interest in previously.
