Kevin Durant on the first run for Brooklyn’s big three: ‘It felt perfect’

James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant scored plenty against the Cavs, but the Nets still lost in the debut of Brooklyn’s bit three.

In some ways, the debut of the Brooklyn Nets’ big three went as expected. The team started off hot on offense as Kevin Durant (38 points), Kyrie Irving (37) and James Harden (21 points) went on to score 71% of the Nets’ 135 points. Though ultimately, that wasn’t enough. Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince were the ones who got to enjoy Wednesday’s big night as the Cleveland Cavaliers walked away with the win.

But that didn’t take away from Durant’s experience, as much as he would’ve liked the win.

“It felt right. It felt perfect. It felt like we belong together,” said Durant said about the new look Nets on a Zoom call with reporters after the loss. “It felt like this journey together is going to be fun. Tough first start … it was an up and down game for us. But I like where we are.”

Durant and company will try again against the Cavaliers on Friday.
