Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant never fails to amaze us with his basketball repertoire.
He is a walking highlight reel. It’s not hard to notice how much he loves the game. On a recent episode of the Boardroom’s “Out of the Office” podcast, Durant admitted to some truths that come with this love.
One item that stood out had to do with setbacks from the game, particularly injuries. When it comes to injuries and not playing, it leaves the 32-year-old devastated.
Said Durant, “Not playing basketball. Not practicing. Not getting up to do my regular [expletive]. That was the end of the world to me. You know what I’m saying? I hate feeling like this — I wanted it more when I was out for some reason. And once I got back, I’m talking about first injuries … I’m talking about ankle injuries … and high school and college, all that.
“Not playing every day is just like once I get back, I just get so much more energy to play. I just appreciate it more because you didn’t have it. Something that you want to do so much and you don’t get the chance to do it.”
As much as we missed watching Durant play in the 2019-20 season, he feels the same way. He clearly misses the feeling of competition. Just the thought of Durant not playing the entire 2019-20 NBA season hurts. Inevitably, these types of setbacks make the Nets star appreciate playing even more.
