Kevin Durant on media’s constant criticism: ‘They wanna bully me’

Among the things Kevin Durant discussed during his appearance on Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’s show was his view of the media.

Since he decided to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant has received a lot of criticism. Whether it’s on social media or from those who cover the game, it hasn’t stopped since he made his decision in the Summer of 2016.

Similar criticism has carried over to Durant’s decision to play for the Brooklyn Nets instead of the New York Knicks.

During his appearance on “All The Smoke” — Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’s show on Showtime — Durant explained how all of it has led to his dislike for the media:

I think the reason why all this [expletive] is going on, I think a lot of the media feel like — they bullying me. They wanna bully me and they feel like they found a little crackle or crease in my armor. And they wanna use that against me somehow, so they continue to just regurgitate the same old stories, the same old storyline. And, ya know, recreate beefs with players, former teammates.

Barnes interjected to add how the media blows everything out of proportion. To which Durant then added:

It’s just like, I see what you doing and that’s why I don’t like media in the first place. And it’s just if the shoe fits. I’m not grouping everybody in the same thing. But it’s just like, there’s a reason I don’t [expletive] with y’all. But I know what you [are] trying to do. You know what I’m saying? You’re not slick. And when I call it out, I guess I’m a sensitive guy.
