Multiple NBA players have found ways to use their wealth to help those in need throughout the novel coronavirus pandemic. The Brooklyn Nets have been no exception, especially Kevin Durant.
The superstar forward made donations to the NAACP and Center for Policing Equity in honor of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and “all those who’ve lost their lives or suffered injustice at the hands of the police.”
Then, Durant partnered with Degree Deodorant to donate $1 million to 10 organizations across the country — sports programs and rec centers — in some of the hardest-hit communities nationwide to help more than 100,000 kids “#KeepMoving.” Three of those 10 organizations were New York City-based organizations.
Now USA Today SMG‘s Jeff Zillgitt is reporting Durant has partnered with GiveDirectly lending a helping hand to those in need in Seat Pleasant, Maryland — his hometown.
Durant and GiveDirectly will be providing “one-time cash disbursements for low-income families that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic” in Seat Pleasant.
