Kevin Durant explains how Jacque Vaughn has been ‘huge’ for the Nets

After scoring 39 points in a 113-107 win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant praised Jacque Vaughn.

Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant has many things to point to for his and the team’s recent success to get over .500 for the first time this season. Durant can point to Kyrie Irving getting back into the swing of things, Joe Harris finding his shot, or the team being able to lock down on defense in the second half.

However, in the midst of averaging almost 38 points per game in his last four contests, Durant chose to point to something that isn’t confined to any one player. Durant chose to point to coach Jacque Vaughn’s approach to coaching in the present.

Here’s what Durant thought of Vaughn’s coaching emphasis after beating the Washington Wizards 113-107 on Wednesday:

“He’s (Jacque Vaughn) been huge. Just keeping it simple. We have high expectations for our team, but the process is more important than the end result. Each day matters and Jacque has been preaching that since he got the job. As a player, you like to simplify the game and what you’re doing and that’s what he’s been doing this whole time. Guys have been learning on the fly, but also picking up things quick and applying it quickly so Jacque has been doing a great job for us.”
