Although his run with Brooklyn is going to be Steve Nash’s first time coaching in any capacity at the NBA level, there’s no question he has a great basketball mind. After all, he is a Hall of Fame point guard.

But there’s more to what Nash brings to Brooklyn.

“He’s a brilliant basketball mind on top of that he’s a great communicator,” Kevin Durant said on The Players’ Tribune’s “Text Message Talk Show.” “Everything he did on the court was efficient so hopefully he brings that mentality to our team.”

With Nash being such an effective communicator, he’s should have no problem building a collaborative culture in Brooklyn — which is important to Durant and Kyrie Irving. And the Nets’ star forward can wait to start the process of developing the Nets’ culture.

“I’m excited about Coach Nash,” Durant told Players’ Tribune. “I think he’s gonna build a fun culture in Brooklyn. Having a former player walk the sidelines is always dope to see”
