Kyrie Irving hosted an Instagram Live session on Saturday, during which he welcomed on Nets teammate Caris LeVert. As the two talked about a few different topics, including Brooklyn’s upcoming season, Portland Trailblazers point guard Damian Lillard threw a comment in the chat:
Ky bra do your media sessions😂😂😂
After conversing with LeVert, Kevin Durant hopped on with Irving. Brooklyn’s superstar forward didn’t waste anytime, instantly asking Irving a question after the two greeted one another — because Durant felt “as your teammate that I think I should be asking you the questions” since Irving “ain’t did no media or nothin'” to this point in the preseason.
“You told me once we decided to play for the Nets that you needed four post-ups a night — I mean eight post-ups a night, four each half,” Durant said. “I think that’s too much for a 6[-foot-]1 point guard. I think that might hold up our offense. I wonder why you decide to play more of a big than your normal position.”
Irving explained that his soul tell’s him he’s a seven footer, and the Nets point guard feels he can shoot over anybody. Then Irving reminded Durant to show him a little respect as the host of the Instagram Live session.
“In my past life, like I said, I was you. I was you. What you are now, that’s what I’m up here,” Irving said while pointing to his head. “Same mentality.”
Durant replied:
“I don’t think that’s good for the continuity of our offense if our point guard always want to be underneath the rim.”
Irving agreed, and tried to get seven post-ups instead of eight — adding that he feels like he always has a mismatch, no matter who’s playing him.
“Yeah, we gonna see though,” Durant said. “We’ll see.”
