Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash has been under fire for much of this season, but the criticism reached a fever pitch as the Boston Celtics swept the Nets out of the first round.
Jay Williams was one of many TV analysts to call out Nash for a lack of in-game adjustments in winnable games against Boston, but Nets superstar Kevin Durant still believes in his head coach.
After the game, Durant was asked if he felt that Nash should remain as the Nets head coach, and Durant said he was proud of the way Nash handled the myriad challenges throughout his two years with the team.
Q: Do you think Steve is still the right guy to lead this group?
Durant: Come on, man. Yeah. Steve has been dealt a crazy hand the last two years. He’s… had to deal with so much stuff as a head coach, first-time coach. Trades, injuries, COVID, just a lot of stuff he had to deal with. I’m proud of how he just focused, and his passion for us. We all continue to keep developing over the summer and see what happens.
