One of the most heated positional battles at Pittsburgh Steelers training camp has been at left guard. Kevin Dotson and Kendrick Green. Neither guy has been great but the Steelers don’t have a viable third option.

Dotson spoke to the media on Tuesday and said he there has been no official announcement but he believes he will be the starting left guard this season.

When Dotson was a rookie he burst on the scene and really impressed with his power. But last season was marred by conditioning issues and an injury that limited him for much of the season and only allowed him to start nine games.

If Dotson can recapture some of that fire from his rookie season, the Steelers offensive line will be much better for it. The entire Steelers offensive line has struggled in the preseason and unfortunately there aren’t a lot of free-agent options out there. The biggest question might be what the future hold for Green, who came into the team with significant fanfare and now finds himself on the verge of being benched.
