Lions rookie safety Kerby Joseph picked off Giants QB Daniel Jones in the third quarter of the Week 11 game in New York. It was Joseph’s third pick of the season.
That it happened in New York and when it did carries extra significance for both teams.
With the pick, Joseph tied Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay for catches on the season. Golladay hauled in his third catch of the year in the first half.
Golladay, of course, left the Lions for a $72 million contract from the Giants after the 2020 season. He has been benched multiple times for drops and an inability to get open.
The Lions used the compensatory draft pick they got for letting Golladay go in free agency on Joseph. The No. 97 overall pick of the 2022 NFL draft has proven to be an instant impact talent.
Credit to John Niyo of the Detroit News for tracking the tally.
Kerby Joseph now tied again with Kenny Golladay for catches this season. Three receptions for Golladay, three INTs for Joseph, who the Lions drafted with the comp pick they got for letting Golladay walk in FA.
