Kentucky women finally make a jump in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

The Kentucky women are up to 12th in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Kentucky women’s basketball has been on a roll. However, the various top 25 polls had them locked in at 16th for over a month. This past week, they won two more games, against Florida and Auburn, and have finally gained some ground in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats come in at number 12 in this weeks coaches poll. That’s fourth among teams from the SEC. Seven teams from the conference are ranked and two more received votes.

South Carolina still leads the way for the SEC at number two overall. The LSU Tigers are also in the top five. The Texas Longhorns are in the top ten.

Kentucky is now 15-1 on the season, and 4-0 in the SEC. They arguably should be higher in the polls, but inexplicably got stuck at 16th for multiple weeks. If this week’s poll is any indication, maybe they are finally getting the respect they have earned.
