New coach Kenny Brook has Kentucky women’s basketball off to a red hot start to the season. They’re 11 – 1 and have looked impressive all year. In the coaches poll, they were ranked 16th this week, and now the AP Top 25 poll also puts them at 16th.
Kentucky won their only game this past week, a 88 – 70 victory over Western Kentucky. It wasn’t enough to move up in the poll, though, and they stay at 16. That’s good for sixth among ranked SEC teams.

Like the coaches poll, South Carolina is the highest ranked SEC team at number two. The Texas Longhorns, LSU Tigers, and Oklahoma Sooners are all ranked in the top ten.
Overall, eight SEC teams are ranked inside the top 25 in the AP poll. Two more received votes.
SEC play begins for Kentucky on January 2nd against Mississippi State. If they can get off to a good start in conference play, they should start to climb up the rankings.
