Kentucky basketball doesn’t yet have a commitment for the class of 2025, but if sources are to be believed, one of their biggest targets may make a decision soon. Guard Jasper Johnson could be close to making his choice.
The 6’4″, 175 lb Johnson is the tenth overall player in the 2025 class according to 247sports composite rankings. He rated five stars, and is the number two combo guard going into next year.

Johnson plays high school basketball in Missouri, but is originally from Kentucky, and his father, Dennis Johnson, played football for the Wildcats. Mark Pope has made landing the younger Johnson a priority, and has watched him play in person in recent weeks.
Pope has competition for Johnson’s services, though. North Carolina and Alabama are both heavily involved in his recruitment, as well as Illinois and Auburn. He has visited all of those teams, though his visit to Kentucky was before Pope was the coach.
Per On3’s Joe Tipton (subscription required), Johnson could make a decision as soon as a week from now. Mark Pope, Kentucky basketball, and Big Blue Nation are hoping he chooses to head back to the Bluegrass State.
