The Kentucky Wildcats have been rising in the polls for the past few weeks. They nearly fell out of the AP Top 25 in mid-February, but have drastically improved their standing since then.
On Monday, the Wildcats made their biggest leap in the polls yet, by jumping up six spots from 15th to 9th. They’re the second highest ranked team from the SEC currently, behind Tennessee and just ahead of Auburn.
Kentucky moving up in the polls should correlate to them moving up in the seeding for the NCAA Tournament later this month. In recent weeks, the Cats have been mostly projected to be a four or five seed, which is always a dangerous spot.
With the wins over multiple ranked SEC foes in the last few weeks, and if they can make a run in the SEC Tournament, they should be able to move up to a top three seed. If they win it, a two seed is still possible as well.
There’s no question that the Wildcats are red hot right now. They have only gotten stronger lately, and it’s being reflected in the top 25 rankings.
