Kentucky basketball coach Mark Pope and his staff targeted a number of the top players in the 2025 recruiting class. Forward Chris Cenac Jr. was one they not only recruited, but were very involved with, even making his final seven schools.
On Tuesday evening, Cenac made his decision. He will be playing for coach Kelvin Sampson and the Houston Cougars, adding to their already top five recruiting class.

Cenac is a 6’10”, 230 lb power forward from Louisiana. He is ranked as the number 10 overall player in the class by 247sports, and is rated five stars.
Kentucky was in on Cenac until the end, but the recruitment of five star forward Caleb Wilson may have played a part in Cenac’s decision. Predictions are coming in that Wilson will be a Wildcat, and since he and Cenac play the same position, it would make sense for him to go elsewhere.
Wildcats fans will wait on Wilson’s decision for now, and wish Cenac the best of luck at Houston.
