The 2024 college football season is still quite a ways off. However, that’s not too early for ESPN to post it’s way-too-early top 25, and perhaps to the surprise of some, Kentucky is on it.
The SEC dominates the rankings, with 10 of the 25 teams coming from the newly expanded league. Georgia comes in at number one, with Texas, Ole Miss, Missouri and Alabama all inside the top ten.
The Wildcats come in at 23rd on the list, in large part due to their transfer class, which netted them several expected starters. They will have multiple new faces, including a new offensive coordinator, but will hope to be a more explosive offense.
Brock Vandagriff is the new quarterback, and the season will, of course, hinge on his ability to lead the offense. They need the former five-star recruit to play up to his potential. If he does, then that 23rd ranking now won’t be as surprising.
