Kentucky kicker Alex Raynor was named SEC special teams Player of the Year

Kentucky kicker Alex Raynor was named the SEC special teams Player of the Year by the coaches.

There wasn’t a lot to celebrate for Kentucky football in 2024. They went 4 – 8 overall behind an offense that struggled to score points despite some All-SEC players. One bright spot, however, was kicker Alex Raynor.

Raynor was one of the Wildcats honored as part of the All-SEC team, named the first team kicker. He was as consistent as they come this season, earning him the nod as the SEC special teams Player of the Year, as voted on by coaches.

It was a terrific season for Raynor, who made 15-of-16 field goal attempts, good for an SEC leading 93% rate. That includes a 55-yarder he made against Georgia early in the season.

Fans had trouble finding reasons to be positive at times this season. Raynor was one of the positives, and he is getting plenty of deserved accolades. He is also a finalist for the Lou Groza Award, and fans would love to see him take that one too.

Congratulations to Raynor on being named the SEC special teams Player of the Year.
