Kentucky football’s 2024 season opener has been delayed

Kentucky’s opening night game against Southern Miss has been delayed by weather.

The 2024 Kentucky football season is set to begin on Saturday night against Southern Miss, but it looks like it won’t begin when fans thought it would. Mother Nature has interfered, and the game’s start has been delayed.

It was announced in the lead up to the game that lightning in the are would force the normal Cat Walk to be moved indoors. The team’s arrival would also be closed to the public.  They also announced that the gate opening would be delayed.

Not long after that, at 7:05, the gates opened, but fans were told to stay in the concourse area, and not to head to the seats. As of approximately 7:30 PM, the Kentucky Athletics account on the social platform X posted that a start time for the game was still to be determined.

Wildcats fans should follow the Kentucky Athletics account for more information. The safety of fans and players come first, and hopefully the game will get started sooner rather than later.
