Kentucky football may have lost out on a chance to host College Gameday

ESPN’s College Gameday might have come to Lexington if Kentucky had beaten South Carolina.

Kentucky football may have had an opportunity to host College Gameday

The Kentucky football loss to South Carolina had a lot of negative effects on the season. Getting to a bowl game, and finishing over .500 is a much taller task now. However, a smaller scale effect is that they may have missed out on the chance to host ESPN’s College Gameday.

Typically, ESPN’s College Gameday crew is live from one of the bigger games of each week during the season. It’s an energetic atmosphere and a huge deal for a school like Kentucky, should they get them there.

Many people though that if Kentucky beat South Carolina, they could crack into the top 25, which might entice ESPN to send the crew to Lexington for the game against the Georgia Bulldogs. Week three doesn’t have a lot of big-time match-ups, so it would have made sense.

Now, next week’s game has little intrigue for a majority of the country, who expect an easy Bulldogs victory. Wildcats fans are hoping to be competitive against the country’s number one team, and the results are what matter the most. It would have been nice to have ESPN come to town, though.
