Kentucky football lands a top defensive lineman from the transfer portal

Kentucky lands a big time defensive lineman from the transfer portal.

Kentucky football coach Mark Pope and his staff have been very busy working to add players from the transfer portal to replace the ones they lost this offseason. On Saturday, they landed one of the bigger names in defensive lineman David Gusta per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Gusta originally committed to Fresno State as a three star recruit out of California. He quickly changed his commitment to Washington State, however, and has played there for the past three years.

In 2024, Gusta recorded 21 tackles, including three for a loss. He added a sack as well. He’s considered one of the top defensive linemen in the portal for his ability to play the run. At 6’3″ and over 300 lbs, he can play all over the line and was graded as one of the best interior lineman in the country.

It’s a big addition for Stoops and Kentucky, and he should be a plug and play defender. Fans should be excited about this one.
